On December 17th, 2020 Red Angel Online was attacked by a nefarious script that appeared to be uploaded via FTP into the server. Once it was uploaded it replicated itself until it had full control. This caused the website to redirect traffic to non affiliated websites.
We do not believe that any customer data was affected, and because we use square no credit card information was released during the attack.
How Did This Happen?
Eval Agency of Columbus Ohio investigated the attack. They believe that the attack was caused by failure of the hosting provider to provide adequate security. A nefarious agent was able to gain access to the hosting account on GoDaddy and use that account to upload and change files. Because this was done outside of the website itself security protocols in place did not pick up on the attack.
What are we doing to fix it?
Due to the insecure nature of the hosting provider, we have switched out web services over to a new provider. Wort Technologies will now host the website and provide regular updates to ensure the server is running the latest and most secure software available. Please bear with us as we complete the migration process. This could cause intermittent issues with the website, but they should be temporary and generally short.
As always, we appreciate our customers, employees, and the community that has supported our business and look forward to serving you for years to come. If you have any issues with the website please reach out to us at 419-542-5555
Thank You
